Dr. Myer graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1979. He received his BS from SIUE in 1983, his BS from U of I in 1984 and his DVM from U of I in 1986. His areas of special interest are cardiology and orthopedic surgery. He wife’s name is Donna and has one son, Andrew. He belongs to the Goshen Rotary Club and his hobbies are fishing and woodworking. He has several pet including several shelties and one cat.
Dr. Phillip McKinney graduated from U of I in 1971 and joined Hawthorne Animal Hospital that same year. His area of special interest is ultrasound and endoscopy. He is married and has two grown children and one grandson. His hobbies are biking, hiking, skiing, and wild flowers.
Gina, Operations Manager
Gina joined the practice in August 2007 as a receptionist. In 2008, she moved to our Countryside Greenville office as receptionist and office manager. In 2011, she came back to the Glen Carbon staff as part of the Glen management team. She is married and has two sons and one daughter. Her pets include horses, cats and dogs. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, horseback riding, being outdoors and Cardinals baseball.
Jessica Ward, Human Resources Director
Jessica joined the practice in January of 2015 as a Receptionist. She became the HR Director in February of 2017. Jessica attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where she graduated in the Spring of 2016 with her Bachelors Degree in Psychology. In her free time, Jessica enjoys reading and making new memories with her friends and family.
Kim has been with Hawthorne Animal Hospital since November 2002. Kim started in the reception department and moved to inventory manager in 2004. She is currently the manager at our Troy location. She has been married to Andy since 1984 and they have 2 children, David and Brenna. She has 3 dogs and 2 horses. Her favorite hobbies are horseback riding with her daughter and weekend trips with her family.
Leah started at Hawthorne in October of 2012 as part of our receptionist team. She became the receptionist supervisor in the Fall of 2014. Leah attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and has Bachelor degrees in both Elementary Education and English. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with friends. She has two adorable cats named Blanche and Rosie.
Alisse started at Hawthorne in 2011 as part of our animal care team. She was promoted to our receptionist department in 2013 and became boarding supervisor in Spring of 2015. Alisse has 2 dogs named, Sonny and Coco. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and doing photography.
Rachel, Boarding Supervisor
Rachel has been with Hawthorne since April 2012 as part of the animal care team. Her grandfather, Dr. Helms, was one of the original owners of Hawthorne so Rachel’s interest in animals started very young. Growing up on a farm just outside Edwardsville taught her not only how to care for animals, but also how to love and respect them as well. Rachel has a Yorkshire Terrier named Lily who is her constant companion. They enjoy taking walks and going on car rides together. In her free time, Rachel enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She also loves spending time outdoors, especially camping.
